Sarah Shook & The Disarmers
Review and photos by Kim Reed

Sarah Shook & The Disarmers rolled quietly into the Big Grove Brewery last week and set up in the corner. Most patrons of this wonderful new venue were there to eat, drink and enjoy the (finally!) warm weather. What they didn't realize until the band kicked off their set was that Sarah Shook & The Disarmers is one of the best bands to make it to the alt country scene of late.

Out to promote their 12-track self-titled record  on Bloodshot Records, ringleader Sarah Shook and the boys turned heads and drew them into the show area of this quite sizable new venue when they started. Think sparks & spunk of Nikki Lane or Lydia Loveless and then listen to the Johnny Cash warble in such songs as "The Nail" or even "Heat Me".

The new Big Grove Brewery is now a location on many people's radars and after their full show last week Sarah Shook & The Disarmers are starting to create a excited buzz as well.
