Summer is here! Get out and taste what the corridor has to offer. Lucky’s on Sixteenth, located in the heart of historic Czech Village at 86 16th Ave SW, Cedar Rapids, is a prime spot to stop in with friends and family morning, noon, and night. Enjoy these gorgeous days and warm evenings on their vibrant outdoor patio. It is perfect for a casual lunch or to add to your fun night out. Soak up the sounds of the upbeat community and feel the neighborhood vibe. Grab one of their many vintage board games like Candy Land, Sorry, and UNO and make it a game night.
Lucky’s offers an extensive menu for breakfast to get your day started right; and a lunch/dinner menu that gives patrons many build-it-your-way options. They also offer a kids menu tailored to the little ones to fit everyone’s needs. Their build your own lunch/dinner menu gives you an array of options to create what ever you are craving. Taking comfort food any way you want it, to a whole new level. Mix and match your favorite combo and then next time come back and try something new. Build your own burger, chicken sandwich or Mac N Cheese dish by adding up to five different toppings. Make it a classic burger with lettuce, onion, pickle and tomato or make it your own with a twist. Maybe a fried egg, mushrooms and avocado; or steak, peppers, black beans and hummus. With more than 40 toppings and 14 meat additions to choose from, the possibilities are endless. My favorite combo is the Mac N Cheese dish with strips of kielbasa, sautéed onions, green and red peppers, with sliced jalapenos. The smoky kielbasa with the heat of the peppers and gooey cheesy goodness of the Mac N Cheese creates the perfect blend with just a kick of heat.
If you aren’t looking to build your own, Lucky’s also offers an array of appetizers like cheese fries, wings, monster nachos, potato skins and reuben bites; along with a crispy or grilled tenderloin, hotdog or brat.
If you’re craving a great hotdog, look no further! Lucky’s plump half pound foot-long hotdog is larger-than-life and my favorite around town. With a hint of smoky sausage flavor, this juicy dog is topped with chili, onion and shredded cheese, and placed on a soft toasted bun to hold it up; served with crispy home fries. Knife and fork recommended!
For a lighter meal try one of their many salad options like the Pear salad with spinach, walnuts, bleu cheese and balsamic or the Strawberry Feta salad with romaine, spinach, strawberries and feta cheese. My favorite is the Cobb salad with romaine, black olives, dices tomatoes, crumbled bacon, sliced avocado and strips of grilled chicken. It is a hearty salad that will leave you full while feeling good. Also try their hummus platter, fruit plate, sautéed vegetables and baked potato as alternative sides.
Make sure to leave room for dessert, your choice of hot apple pie or hot double chocolate brownie. Both are incredibly decadent. The warm gooey chocolate brownie topped with a scoop of ice cream and drizzle of chocolate sauce is devilishly rich. Both are ample for sharing.
Enjoy a gorgeous summer day in the Czech Village at Lucky’s on Sixteenth. It is the perfect place to meet up or catch up before or after one of the many fun events going on in and around Czech Village. Just a 10-15 minute walk from the McGrath Amphitheater makes it a plus to stop in before or after a show. Their relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff welcomes you anytime.
