Building Homes with Class and Style

Like a famous work of art or a great symphony, a beautiful home has its own style. That style appears in themes that create unity through choices of color, woodwork, or even furnishings. A good designer will create a sense of style by building it in from the beginning.

With its peaked roofline, welcoming porch, and low-maintenance shingle exterior, this home, built by Capital Builders, Inc. of Marion, features design themes that add just that kind of style. Step inside the front door, and handsome antique-white-painted columns—similar to the columns that grace the porch—greet the visitor, creating a flow from outdoors to indoors. Those columns appear elsewhere in the home—on either side of the fireplace, for example, and the kitchen cabinets are the same antique white.

It’s a pleasure to find a home that has stylish touches like this even before furnishings are in it. “Being a female builder can offer an advantage to some design and style elements in new construction,” says Jodi Siamis, owner of Capital Builders Inc. Whether it’s because of the builder’s gender or not, this home, full of luxury amenities, is also full of style. “Our customer liaison, Leanne Loehr, makes the new construction process enjoyable and rewarding, she is a great attribute to the Capital Team.”

For many families, the kitchen is the heart of the home. This home’s kitchen will surely be a place for gathering together. A spacious kitchen island topped with granite and supported by smaller versions of the home’s columns makes a great place for an informal meal. Next to the island is room for a table near a sliding door that leads out to the covered deck. Above both areas hang rustic pendant lights in matte black with cylindrical lights that look like candles.

Right off the kitchen is the entrance to the home’s three-car garage, making it easy to bring in groceries to the walk-in pantry. In the entryway are custom-built lockers, a half-bath, and laundry area.

Adjacent to the kitchen is a hearth room—a cozier version of a great room. A fireplace with granite surround and custom mantle anchor the room, which has space for relaxing and large windows that let in light. This family also decided they wanted a formal dining room—that’s just steps away near the front of the home. A trayed ceiling and handsome columns set off the space.

Adding to the formal entertaining area is the home’s great room. Siamis was able to find attractive patterned carpets for a reasonable price—the texture gives the room a rich feeling. There’s plenty of room here for staging and gathering, two sets of French doors open out onto the deck.

The master suite, serene and quiet, provides a relaxing getaway right in the home. The bedroom has large windows and a trayed ceiling, and right around the corner is a bit of luxury: a wet bar. Next to it is a huge walk-in closet with windowed doors that give a spa-like look. The master bath, with its gray-hued rectangular ceramic tiles is the picture of luxury. In the corner is a jetted tub, flanked by a walk-in shower with shining glass tile accents. Twin vessel sinks sit atop the spacious counter along another wall.

A couple could live entirely on this floor, but this home also has a walk-out lower level with more rooms for entertaining or relaxing. The staircase is open, letting in light from above and providing a nice view from one floor to the next. Perfect for entertaining, the lower level features a ceiling-mounted projector with a screen that almost covers an entire wall. There’s surround sound here for an movie theatre experience. Also making entertaining easier is the full bar on one side of the lower level. A tile floor delineates the bar area from the rest of the large room.

There are extra rooms galore on this level. Two bedrooms on one side share a unique Jack and Jill bathroom. They have huge walk-in closets for plenty of storage. On the other side of the main room is a large bedroom with another full bath—a perfect place for long-term visitors. “We often think about our aging population as we build,” says Siamis. “Many families we’ve built for have multiple generations living in the same home.” Whether it’s for an older parent or an adult child, this set up will provide both privacy and dignity to the resident.

“We have signature floor plans that are best sellers,” says Siamis. “But we’ve never built the exact same house twice. Each one is unique—just like each family and each budget.” A unique combination of functionality and style, a Capital Builders home is a home for the present and an investment in the future.
